Curating Home

Intentional.
Evolving.
Reflecting Your Story.

Whether its your first apartment, a place to raise a family, the newly empty nest or your personal retreat, every space you inhabit provides an opportunity to create a home.

Homes created with intention are spaces that reflect the story of its inhabitants, from the art on the walls, to the depth of the couch to the inherited silverware. Pieces, photos and curios collected over time, reflect shared experiences and add personality and history to a space.

The homes I find myself drawn to are not perfect, they are lived in spaces that evolve based on the needs of the people that live there. The designs and features of a well loved home with toddlers are vastly different then the home creating space for a family member to age in place.

Home is a place where craftsmanship and legacy are perfectly balanced with comfort and whimsy. My vision is guiding you to discover what you love and assist you in curating a space that reflects it.

“We wanted a room that felt welcoming and pulled together. Vanessa valued our desire to use existing pieces and intentionally sourced secondhand items that seamlessly blended with our aesthetic. Now this is our favorite room in the house!” Jeannie & Justin, Homeowners

This stunning 1929 colonial sits in Homeland, one of Baltimore City's most storied neighborhoods. Soaring ceilings, oversized windows and original hardwood floors give the home its character. For a family that entertains weekly, the priority was a space that could move easily from homework to dinner parties to game night, without ever feeling like it was choosing sides.

The design began, fittingly, with a story: a set of drapes given to the homeowner by a neighbor. That fabric became the inspiration for the entire color palette, lending itself to reupholstered furniture and new curtains for the room's centerpiece — a wall of windows overlooking the backyard oasis beyond.

Existing antique pieces, already part of the family's history, were layered with secondhand finds sourced along the way, and the room came together with ease. Even the chandelier has a story: a $20 flea market find, cleaned up and paired with wallpaper-wrapped candlesticks, that now feels both historic and intentionally whimsical.

“Vanessa took our art collection, family treasures and vintage finds and transformed our first floor into a space that feels curated, personal and entirely us. Her eye for blending old and new is rare.”

Debbie & Mark, Homeowners

This lovely home in Baltimore County’s Knollwood-Donnybrook neighborhood sits on a quiet tree lined street. Debbie and Mark have lovingly updated their home over the years while raising two boys and balancing careers and volunteer commitments. As empty nesters they started evolving the space to meet their needs now, and with the recent addition of heirloom furniture, wanted a first floor space the seamlessly connected.

The absolute joy of this project was collection of artwork from generations of artists in this family. From Mark’s family it was the creative work of both parents, for Deb it was artwork from her grandparents, sister and oldest son. With family ties to England and travels across the globe, their collection is both vast and deeply personal. Taking the time to curate that collection, incorporating a transferware plate collection and allowing for some space for future acquisitions required patience and a discerning eye.

The outcome is a home that feels warm and welcoming, with stories to share with everyone who enters.
